By following these simple guidelines, you can keep your GAIA shirt looking crisp and fresh for a long time while contributing to a sustainable approach to garment care.
If your shirt develops spots over time, don't worry. We have compiled some useful tips and tricks to address the most common stains.
How to remove sweat stains
Sweat alone usually doesn't cause stains; it's often a combination of sweat and deodorant. Check the brand of deodorant you use to prevent the stains from reappearing.
To remove the stains, create a 50/50 mix of color-free dishwashing liquid and citric acid. Apply the mixture to the stain, add some water, and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Afterward, wash the shirt in cold water, following our general washing advice.
Dealing with yellowish white shirts
Instead of using various stain removers, try this effective and cost-efficient old trick:
1) Soak your shirt in a solution of 1 dl citric acid (for our Danish customers, you’ll know it as ‘citronsyre’) dissolved in 5 liters of lukewarm water.
2) Allow it to soak for at least 30 minutes (longer is also fine).
3) For stubborn stains, consider soaking the shirt in a mixture of 5 liters of lukewarm water and 1.5 dl soda for an additional 30-60 minutes.
4) Finally, wash the shirt following our general washing advice.
By following these simple steps, you can effectively address stains and maintain the pristine condition of your shirt, ensuring it lasts for a long time.
