Sustainability

REIGN OF GAIA's essence lies in ensuring that all our choices are made deliberately and mindfully, with the least possible impact on the planet. This commitment extends to providing transparency in the decisions we make on your behalf, so you can fully understand the origins of your purchase. In the following section, we aim to illuminate the process behind the creation of your GAIA shirt. If you have any inquiries, feel free to contact us using the information provided under 'contact.' We welcome your questions and feedback.

Direct contact to vendors

REIGN OF GAIA takes a different approach when it comes to collaborating with vendors. While many companies opt for a setup where vendors handle various aspects of production, supply chain, or value chain, we have chosen to be the direct point of contact with all our vendors. This decision ensures that we maintain a close connection to the processes and people involved in creating our products. By personally visiting multiple production facilities in Portugal, we have carefully assessed and selected the right partners for our collaborations. This hands-on approach guarantees that we know exactly what we support and invest in, aligning with our commitment to conscious and informed choices.

Better fibers, longer lifespan

Did you know that many fashion brands producing women's clothing often opt for cheaper weaves, assuming that women rarely wear out their clothes? At REIGN OF GAIA, we strive to change this mindset, and that's why we have made a deliberate choice to create the GAIA shirt using twill weave. The twill weave offers numerous advantages, primarily due to the use of fine threads and a tight weave. As a result, the fabric becomes more substantial and highly durable, ensuring a longer lifespan compared to other weaves like poplin, commonly used in women's clothing.

Beyond its durability, the twill weaving also brings added benefits to the GAIA shirt. The fabric's softness makes it easier to iron, and its resistance to wrinkling is exceptional, making it a perfect fit for our design and quality standards. By opting for better fibers and a twill weave, we aim to provide our customers with a long-lasting and high-quality garment, contributing to a shift towards more sustainable and conscious fashion choices.

Near-shore sourcing

As an active decision in minimizing our Co2 footprint, we have chosen to have our products produced in Europe, to avoid shipping over large distances. And to take it one step further, we have chosen to source all parts going into producing our products out of Portugal, making sure that no parts needs to travel unnecessary distances.

Having the production in Portugal also means that we ensure working conditions in accordance with EU directives on work environments and know that everyone involved in produced our products are treated well and paid fairly.

Minimal use of plastic throughout our value chain

The battle against single-use plastic is a shared responsibility, and we have taken the initiative to meticulously assess our processes to eliminate plastic wherever possible. Our packaging to our customers solely consists of environmentally-friendly materials such as carton and recycled materials. This approach reflects our dedication to reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainability in our operations.

Supporting UN Sustainable Development Goal No.5

Gender equality is a fundamental value at REIGN OF GAIA. It goes without saying that this topic holds significant importance to us and is an integral part of our core values. As a result, we are purposeful in selecting collaborative partners who not only align with our values but we also actively support women in business, which means our full line of production is both women founded and women led.
